Note

Note: This painting will be included in the forthcoming supplement of the Catalog Raisonne of the artist’s work by Les and Sue Fox

Note II: “First, there is no doubt that your painting is one of many views of “Boxwood I”, Fern’s first home in Pennsylvania (Lumberville)Painted from the 1920’s to the 1940’s. While details and colors vary and are not always an accurate representation of the house on River Road, your painting closely resembles ”A Winter Road” shown on Page 56 of my book which actually is CWF-46 in the Catalog Raisonne, not CWF-47. In the CR I I stated that this painting was created circa 1926 also circa 1930. In the next edition of the CR I will make a number of modifications and corrections but my guess is that your painting was created around that time. Generally, a larger work was created first but I am not sure of the relative timeline of the two paintings yet.” 1
